I also totally forgot about that “scoring with a french woman” bit. I could picture that being incorporated into some kind of monty python type sketch.

Nice Review! I’d forgotten about the “scoring with a French woman” joke. I have another perspective on the talk, but I think we’re pretty much in agreement about the presentations given.

As someone who suffers mildly but annoyingly from dyslexia and dyscalculia, I can tell you that from those perspectives, most CAPTCHAs are horrendous. I came across one the other day that was circular, required you to enter the letters in the anti-clockwise order, and started at a random point on the rotation with the first letter indicated in red.

My brain imploded and I had to ask someone to do it for me. Christ, I was 20 before I could read a clock the RIGHT way round, let alone random letters the wrong way round.

I absolutely understand why CAPTCHA technology has become so complex, but I’m really interested to see new and better anti-spamming filters as they emerge.

What he didn’t mention to you is when you spend new years eve in France & at 12 you go around the talk to kiss everyone (on both cheeks) – that includes the guys, its a little unsettling first time, esp if one of them comments on your aftershave…
but I guess that just not conventional to me

Holding out a hand to shake hands is obvious to us, it’s a convention. When you go to shake hands with a French woman, you might get a kiss on both cheeks. Woah did I score? As in that was not conventional to me.

Therefore, I think I’ve scored with E loads of times
